This is a departure from the formula of the series previously. This book has Darcy solving the murder on her own, no sister, no Smudge the cat, no Jon.These are well written and they are short, averaging a little over 70 pages. This one includes a short story featuring smudge the cat.
While I enjoyed this one I hope she goes back to including more of the supporting characters.
In short these are short clean mysteries with a paranormal twist. They are best read in order.

I love the whole Darcy Sweet Mystery set. There is just enough ghost stuff in there to make it interesting, a good mystery, and a touch of romance. I have now read all 12 books and eagerly look forward to #13.
Enjoyed this tale of woe for Darcy. Don't put off today what you can do tomorrow not always a plan
A great story but much to short. Hope the next one will be much longer. Will check out the cat now.
I've finally caught up with all of K J Emrick 's books. This one is just as good if not better than books 1-8. Ready for book 10 to come out. I hope Jon comes back into Darcy's life and realizes they are good for one another. I recommend this book and all others in the Darcy Sweet series to all who enjoys a cozy read.
I have read volumes of the Darcy Sweet Cozy Mysteries, each one better than the last. This one dealt with the grief and guilt over the loss of a best friend whom you had lost touch with. I know this is not the main topic of the book which is finding the truth about what really happened to her friend Chloe. I liked how Chloe was such a vivacious person that even after her death she still tried to bring joy and laughter to her friend Darcy. I can't wait till the next is published.
I LOVE these cozy mysteries - they are very engaging - they have nice plot twists that keep you guessing - the characters are well developed and they draw you into their lives. The books are not too long, which is a bonus in my opinion - I can read them easily in a weekend so I'm not all bleary-eyed on Monday morning! I'm looking forward to reading more of these books. To best understand the tension between the main character and the men in her life, it does help to have read the previous books prior to this one - but it can stand alone as well.
This was a great read as were all of the books in the series! Anyone that likes to read great mystery/murder books really should read the whole series of Darcy Sweet books! They will not be disappointed! I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series! I totally enjoyed all of her books and so did my Mom! K.J. Kendrick does a great job with the characters and the stories and takes you into the story and really makes you feel like a part of the stories as if you are there! If you love murder mysteries and great stories with a bit of ghosts thrown in then you will love this entire series!
